Safety Assessments for Avionics Modification Programmes

It’s imperative that defence aircraft can operate both safely and effectively in pressurised environments. To ensure this, airworthiness assessments must be carried out when necessary to form the basis of certification and, hence, to keep the aircraft flying.

Critical Software was approached by the aerospace contractor OGMA to assist in an avionics modification programme being performed on the Portuguese Air Force’s C-130 aircraft. This involved the almost complete replacement of the communication, navigation, and flight control systems used on board these planes.

Through leveraging a comprehensive suite of tasks and expertise, Critical was able to ensure OGMA could complete its Safety System Assessment successfully.
