Lisbon's MedTech Forum 2025: A Glimpse into the Future of Healthcare Innovation
From AI to global regulation, this year’s event highlighted the key forces shaping the future of healthcare and reaffirmed our commitment to driving digital transformation in MedTech.
Ana Rita Silva, Business Development Manager, shared her take on MedTech Forum 2025 and the key trends shaping digital healthcare.
From May 13th to 15th, we had the privilege of attending - and hosting a cocktail reception at - The MedTech Forum 2025 in Lisbon, one of Europe’s premier gatherings for the medical technology industry.
As a company deeply engaged in the future of healthcare, Critical Software is always on the lookout for signals that shape the industry’s direction. This year’s forum delivered those signals in abundance.
AI, Interoperability and the usage of data
One of the most compelling sessions the team attended was “AI Unleashed: Strengthening MedTech Competitiveness in a New Industrial Age.” The discussion with went far beyond buzzwords, diving into how artificial intelligence is already transforming diagnostics, device performance, and patient engagement. What resonated most was the emphasis on maintaining healthcare’s human core while scaling digital innovation, a balance we, at CSW, are deeply committed to.
Geopolitics and Regulation: A Shifting Landscape
Another standout was the session on “MedTech Policy Trends: Navigating a Changing Geopolitical Landscape,” which unpacked the implications of the 2024–2029 EU mandate and global shifts from the US to China and India. For companies like ours, which operate across borders, understanding these dynamics is crucial. The message was clear: agility in regulatory strategy is no longer optional, it’s a competitive necessity.
There were a lot of talks with very interesting insights and knowledge exchange, and we couldn’t highlight them all.
We are now more aware how digital tools are reshaping commercial engagement in MedTech. From virtual product demos to AI-driven sales enablement, the shift is real and accelerating. It validated many of the digital strategies we’re already deploying at Critical Software.
Hosting the cocktail session on the May 14th, especially with this year’s Forum taking place in Lisbon, was even more symbolic. It was a recognition of Portugal’s growing role in the global MedTech ecosystem.
As a Portuguese company with a strong international footprint, we were proud to see our home country take center stage. The energy, hospitality, and innovation on display truly reflected what Portugal has to offer. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, sang with us, and helped make the evening such a memorable moment in such an inspiring setting.
I can say that MedTech Forum 2025 wasn’t just a conference, it was a call to action. For those of us in the medical device industry, it reinforced the urgency of collaboration, the promise of digital transformation, and the importance of keeping patients at the heart of everything we all do.
I left Lisbon inspired, informed, and more committed than ever to helping shape the future of healthcare, one line of code, one partnership, and one breakthrough at a time.
