Since early 2025, Critical Software has been a member of OR.NET e.V., a registered German association that promotes open standards for the secure and dynamic networking of medical devices in clinical environments.

OR.NET initiative brings together stakeholders from industry, healthcare, and research to develop and implement the Service-oriented Device Connectivity (SDC) standard. This standard enables medical devices from different manufacturers to communicate safely and efficiently, supporting the integration of systems in operating rooms, intensive care units, and other clinical settings.

Critical Software’s participation in OR.NET reflects its ongoing work in the medical technology sector, particularly in the development of software for regulated and safety-critical environments. The company brings experience in interoperability, cybersecurity, and embedded systems — areas that are essential for the reliable operation of connected medical devices.

As part of the association, Critical Software will contribute to the evolution of the SDC standard. This includes collaboration on testing frameworks, reference implementations, and security infrastructure — all key components for enabling plug-and-play interoperability in clinical environments.

The collaboration also strengthens Critical Software’s engagement with the broader medical technology ecosystem. It provides opportunities to work alongside device manufacturers, hospitals, and research institutions that are shaping the next generation of interoperable healthcare systems.

This step reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting open standards and contributing to the digital transformation of the healthcare industry.
